c) [4+2] cycloaddition Reaction

i)  Diel’s Alder reaction between furan and maleic acid

d) Pechmann Condensation for Coumarin synthesis

i) Clay catalysed solid state synthesis of 7-hydroxy -4-methyl coumarin

e) Diazotization/coupling

i)  Preparation of methyl orange

Spectroscopy: Interpretation of IR and NMR spectra of simple organic compounds (ethanol, 1-propanol, 2-propanol, methylethanoate, ethyl acetate,stilbene, ethyl acetate, propanone etc).

QuantitativeAnalysis                                                                                                         

  1. To determine the neutralization equivalent of the acid.
  2. Estimation of glucose by Fehling’s solution/Benedict’s solution method.
  3. Estimation of saponification value of oil.
