Objective: To assess the conceptual understanding of Undergraduate Students in Chemistry.

The Department of Chemistry has conducted a ‘Concept Test in Chemistry’ (CONTECH 2022) Phase I for undergraduate students in collaboration with the Association of Chemistry Teachers (ACT) to appraise the conceptual understanding in chemistry. The test consisted of 80 multiple choice questions, covering a range of topics. The questions were designed to assess the students' understanding of fundamental concepts and their ability to apply these concepts to problem-solving. A total of 42 students registered for the test and 37 students enthusiastically appeared in the test. 32 candidates became eligible for ACT Certificate of Participation and one student (Ritika Sharma of B.Sc.- B.Ed. Sem V) became eligible for ACT Certificate of Excellence. She is also the topper of Contech in IIS University.

Outcome: The test results provide valuable insights into the strengths and weaknesses of the students of undergraduate chemistry program. These efforts will help to ensure that our students are well-prepared to succeed in their studies and to pursue careers in the field of chemistry.
