On 13th August 2021, Nivedita Sharma presented her work titled ‘A New Cross-Conjugated Mesomeric Betaine’ wherein she highlighted the synthesis and characterization of a new class of mesomeric betaines. A panel of subject experts cross-examined her work and gave their valuable comments.
On 14th August 2021, Pratibha Sharma discussed the highlights of her Ph.D. thesis titled ‘Stereoselective Aza- Michael Addition of Amides and Amines’ and presented her work to the attendees. She detailed out her results and touched upon the factors that govern the stereoselectivity of Michael addition of amides with amines.
On 17th August 2021, Nosheen Baig presented her work titled ‘N-Heterocyclic Carbenes–CuI Complexes as Catalyst: A Theoretical Insight’ wherein she discussed the theoretical results of evaluating NHC-CuI complexes as catalysts for reactions having high energy barrier. Her work was appreciated by all.
The series gave the presenters as well as the attendees an insight to the new researches that have been done in the department. Prof. Bansal delivered closing remarks where he encouraged all to be involved in taking the research frontiers a step ahead.
Outcome: The research colloquium series was a learning experience for all where the presenters were given an opportunity to showcase their presentation & public speaking skills, while the audience got a chance to learn about the new researches happening in the department.
