Workshop: An Introduction to ChemDraw

Report

Date: August 5, 2015

Venue: A-304

  No. of Participants: 45

Demonstrator: Ms. Nidhi Sogani, Research Scholar, IIS (deemed to be University), Jaipur

ChemDraw is software used for the generation of chemical structure. The knowledge of ChemDraw is essential for the UG, PG and Research students so that they can present cleaner, authentic and high resolution structure in their work. With this aim we have planned to organize this workshop.

Department of Chemistry, IIS (deemed to be University) organized a workshop on ChemDraw for PG students and Research scholars. Demonstration was given by Ms. Nidhi Sogni, Research Scholar, Department of Chemistry, IIS (deemed to be University), Jaipur. She made the students familiar with ChemDraw.

She wonderfully explained the use of ChemDraw to draw the chemical structures efficiently. She explained all the ins & outs involved in the drawing of structures such as drawing of bonds, rings of different sizes, orbitals, symbols, arrows, arcs, atomic labels and many more. Other aspects related to formatting (copy, move, resize, rotate or delete objects) were also explained. Application of ChemDraw to get the information about 1H & 13C NMR of a molecule was also explained.

After the workshop the students were able to draw the chemical structures as for their reports and publications.
