a) Record an absorption spectrum of a substance (KMnO4/K2Cr2O7) using a spectrophotometer and determine absorption maxima (λmax).

b)  To verify the Beer-Lambert law for a compound( Potassium permanganate, copper sulphate, methylene blue etc. ) and determine the concentration of the substance using calibration curve.

c)  Detection of adulteration of food stuffs - To detect the total dye content in sunset yellow colour.

d) Water analysis- analysis of phosphorus in water

To titrate potentiometrically ferrous ammonium sulphate solution using KMnO4/K2Cr2O7 as titrant and calculate the redox potential of Fe++/Fe+++ system on the hydrogen scale.{C}
