Objective: 

This course will enable the students to

describe the process of identification and isolation of natural products, their chemical synthesis, biological activities, ecological relevance and possible applications in the fields of pharmacology using selected examples. It also aims to introduce students with the fundamental concepts of drug discovery and development emphasizing specific classes of drugs.

General introduction and mode of action of- antiviral, antibiotics and anti-AIDS drugs, anti-inflammatory, analgesics, antihistamines, anti-hypertensive and anti-cancer drugs.
