Epistemology: sources of knowledge. Rationalism and empiricism Assumptions and Limitations of science, philosophy, logic and ethics, theory, law, postulate. Types and characteristics of hypothesis, scientific method, research process, causality, experimental research. Data analysis: Mean and standard deviation, absolute and relative errors, linear regression, covariance and correlation coefficient.
Tangible and intangible assets, IP and IPR, Types of IPR, issues related to patenting, format of patent.
Importance, types of sources, databases collection, collation, management and retrieval of references. Scientometry-citations, impact factor, H-index.
Types of research papers, writing of research paper, review, thesis, reviewing process of research paper, ethics in research and publishing.
Students are required to select a topic from either recent advancements in chemistry or the prescribed syllabus for seminar preparation. They will be expected to submit a comprehensive write-up on the chosen topic and deliver a formal presentation. The presentation will be evaluated by a panel of experts, assessing both content depth and presentation skills.
