Title of the Lecture- “Organic Reactions and Related Mechanisms”

Department of Chemistry, IIS (deemed to be University), Jaipur has organized a series of guest lecture on “Organic Reactions and Related Mechanisms” from 18th to 21st September, 2019 by Prof. S. D. Samanth, Honorary Professor, ICT Mumbai.

The first day was an interesting session based on the common misconceptions prevalent in the organic chemistry and the correct learning approach to get an overview of the same. A vivid presentation on the step wise mechanisms was the highlight of the day. On the second day, different name reactions were reviewed under the umbrella of the same underlying mechanistic principles. The students were apprised with the idea of conceptualizing the reactions based on their mechanisms instead of their individual reactants. On the last day, major selectivity controls, kinetics and thermodynamics of various reactions were imperatively discussed. The possibilities of side reactions were explored and a reversible dynamic system of reactions was investigated.

The lecture ended with a warm vote of thanks by Prof. R.K. Bansal, Emeritus Professor, Department of Chemistry, IIS (deemed to be University) Jaipur. It was greatly receipted by the students of PG, research scholars and faculty members.
