3 Day Executive Development Programme on Material Characterization Techniques

Participants: 7 PG Students, 2 Research Scholars and 1 Faculty

OBJECTIVE: The members of the department registered for this workshop to gain insight on working around high-end sophisticated instruments like SEM and XRD.

Sophisticated Analytical Instrumentation Facility at Manipal University Jaipur organized a 3 Day executive workshop on ‘Material Characterization Techniques’ where demonstration & hands-on training was given to the participants to enable them to understand the working of sophisticated instruments like Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and Powder X-Ray Diffractor (XRD).

The 3 Day workshop had two sessions per day where in the first half, a detailed lecture was given on the assembly and working of high-end instruments like SEM, BET Analyser and XRD.

The participants learnt about the sample preparation, software technicalities and the post-scan analysis for each of the techniques mentioned above.

OUTCOME: The participants understood the handling of instruments and working of high-end techniques like SEM, XRD and BET that could aid in characterizing different materials efficiently.
