Workshop: An Introduction to ChemDraw

IIS (Deemed to be University) Jaipur

Workshop

Name of the Department: Chemistry

Name of the Workshop: An Introduction to ChemDraw

Date: August 5, 2015

Venue: A-304

Topic on which activity was organized: An Introduction to ChemDraw

No. of Participants: 45

Objective of the workshop: ChemDraw is software used for the generation of chemical structure. The knowledge of ChemDraw is essential for the UG, PG and Research students so that they can present cleaner, authentic and high resolution structure in their work. With this aim we have planned to organize this workshop.

Description (max 500 words):

Department of Chemistry, IIS (deemed to be University) organized a workshop on ChemDraw for PG students and Research scholars. Demonstration was done by Ms. Nidhi Sogni, Research Scholar, Department of Chemistry, IIS (deemed to be University), Jaipur. She made the students familiar with ChemDraw.

She wonderfully explained the use of ChemDraw to efficiently draw the structures. She explained all the small steps involved in the structure drawing such as drawing of bond, ring, chain, orbital, symbols, arrows, arcs, captions and atom labels. Other aspects related to formatting (duplicate, move, resize, rotate or delete objects) of structure etc were also explained. Application of ChemDraw to get the information about 1H NMR & 13C NMR of a molecule was also explained.

Outcome of the workshop: After the workshop the students were able to draw the chemical structure as per the requirement for their reports and publications.
